On 28th September 2024, KEPSA Foundation participated in the 2024 Global Ismaili Civic Day organized by Ismaili Civic Kenya at Nairobi City Park. This year’s primary focus for the Ismaili day was on environmental stewardship.

Over 200 trees were planted. The participants were also educated on the fragile state of our natural environment. Organizations that participated in the event included Aga Khan University Hospital, United Asian Network led by the Chairman Dr. Bimal Kantaria who is also the KEPSA Director of Food Security & Climate Change. Others were Diamond Trust Bank, Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital and Earth Keepers Foundation.

KEPSA and KEPSA Foundation were represented by Dr Bimal Kantaria and Dr Amit Thakker – KEPSA Advisor. KEPSA Foundation team was led by the Executive Director Ms. Gloria Ndekei.

While giving his keynote address, the guest speaker, Deputy Chief of Staff in the Executive Office of the President, Hon. Eliud Owalo, EGH emphasized the government’s effort in environment conservation through the implementation of projects aimed at increasing forest cover, promoting the development of renewable energy as an alternative source of energy and investment in irrigation programs to enhance the country’s food production capacity. He further hailed the efforts by the Aga Khan Development Network in Kenya through education, healthcare, environment conservation and disaster relief actions in the country.

The day was also marked by offering a free medical screening camp and blood donation drive.
