On November 7, 2024, KEPSA Foundation team took part in a one-day workshop organized by the Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and facilitated by Clerkmaster Consulting at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Nairobi. The workshop was designed to equip KEPSA Foundation team with the skills needed to track the government’s progress in advancing Kenya’s Digital Economy transformation.
This capacity-building session followed the completion of an initial tracking phase led by CIPE, which assessed the government’s progress in implementing its commitments outlined in the Digital Economy manifesto. The focus was on three key areas identified in CIPE’s 2022 Policy Brief: Digital Skills, the Cost of Digitization, and Cybersecurity. In August 2024, responsibility for the sustainability of tracking and advocacy in these areas was transferred to the KEPSA Foundation, which would continue to lead efforts in advancing these priorities.
Mr. Michael Omondi, Policy Analyst at Clerkmaster Consulting, presented an overview of the business case for advocating the digital economy transformation by tracking the government’s progress toward achieving the Kenya Digital Master Plan 2022-2032. He also shared key concepts, best practices, lessons learned, and a step-by-step guide on how to effectively collect, analyze, and report on the digital economy matrix. This capacity-building initiative is crucial as the Foundation pursues evidence-based advocacy to foster a supportive business environment and economic empowerment of vulnerable communities including use of e-commerce by women, youth, and person’s with disabilities.
